How a strong PM thinks
Clarify the work and the essential outcome.
“Help me understand which changes drive the estimate and where uncertainty remains. The essential outcome is backup account access; what narrower options could meet that need?”
Discuss technical risk, dependencies, and the cost of shortcuts. Then communicate a recommendation grounded in the revised understanding. An estimate can be challenged constructively through scope and evidence.
