Situation
Metrics drop the day after a release.
A team immediately blames the new onboarding flow. A campaign and an analytics update launched the same day.

What should you verify first?
Name checks that distinguish product impact from measurement or population changes.
How a strong PM thinks
Verify the observation, then compare explanations.
Check event definitions and authoritative records. Compare exposed and unexposed groups where appropriate, relevant segments, and the campaign's audience mix. Inspect the failing funnel step.
If a clear harmful regression exists, contain it while investigating. Do not wait for perfect certainty to protect users, but do not present a temporal association as a proven cause either.
Takeaway
“After” is a clue to investigate.
Choose evidence that can separate competing explanations, and make reversible mitigation decisions proportionate to the risk.
